The Upside Down Nap accordian

We are having fun in the book class here in Sedona. And, gratefully, I think my big, nasty cold is finally dying out. Can you say Praise Dog! So, here's a fun little accordian book I made for class. (The teacher needs to have fun too, right?) Emma Lou Bangles, of course, was my model.

IF: Theory

Moleskin sketch. Yes, moleskin. I bought a new one--plain paper. We are beginning to bond. Today our electric went out on the whole street! I was meaning to work on the computer but had to throw the plans out the window. Instead, I sketched. And I feel so much better for it! Creative juices are flowing. Yummmmm.

Busy, Busy, Busy

I've been quite busy lately teaching and creating lessons for teaching, which, of course, is a good and glorious thing. Big thank you to Laurel (lolo) for the new award. :) I've been sorting through what I want to do and finally being realistic over how much time and energy I have. The problem has always been I have this big spirit who wants to do everything RIGHT NOW! But I find, now in my forties, I don't move around as fast as I'd like. So, it is time to prioritize a bit and weed out.

I am noticing:

1. The Etsy store may go. I am not sure, but it is not a big money maker and actually frustrates the hell out of me. I will get 300+ hits for my Lilibeth Soars print but no buyer. Then little me screams, Hello! It's only &%%& $20 bucks! This is a continuous inner dialougue that probably doesn't serve me.
2. Teaching is good. It brings in money, is so rewarding and very natural for me. Teaching stays.
3. I have less time for designing lately and even less time for creating my books. Not a good thing. But, I realize, I am designing my classes. It is only a different form of designing and building.
4. I need to focus more on creating that is just for me and feels good. You know, the kind where you draw outside the lines. I've been creating some handmade books as I teach this course, which has been a real hoot. Is it still worthy art if it isn't commercial, I ask myself. Yet, my soul wants more of that. More play, more fun, more sketchbook.
5. More sharing and creating with thought. I tend to give it all away for free and then bitch I need money. :)
6. I want to sit down and focus on finishing my books, but quite honestly, I've been fighting this inner voice that says, What's the Point? No one will buy them. Isn't that awful? So I proceed slowly.

Any feedback fellow artistes?

IF: Blanket and Sunday Sketchbook

I'm back to my drawing board! Finally settling in a bit. Busy teaching (so happy) and preparing for teaching in Sedona in September at Fairy and Earth School. I've signed up for an online Photoshop class at the school, which I feel will be very helpful. Here's part of my black/white series of drawings I want to put into a handmade book. I want to thank Dog for the invention of the Pigma Micron pen, which flows so deliciously.

(Thanks to Meagan who told me how to adjust my pic in Photoshop to look clearer, sharper. See! I'm already learning. That pic is the one on top)
